My Imaginary Life 16

Shah and Alan are in a large brightly lit room. There’s a large table in the centre of the room covered with files and folders. There are large whiteboards with organizational charts drawn on them and a large cork board with a world map and lots of multi-coloured pushpins marking various locations. Alan is studying a photo which is stuck on the whiteboard with a magnet while Shah is sitting back in an armchair with his feet on the table sipping a cup of coffee. There’s a third person in the room, Jeff. He’s sitting across the table from Shah. A laptop is open in front of him and has a look of concentration on his face. He’s playing solitaire.

The picture Alan is looking at is a large blown up picture of a man in a dark suit and sunglasses accompanied by a lady who looks remarkably like Jo.

Alan: There’s no mistaking, it’s definitely her. So we know for a fact that she knew Azmi. But there was absolutely no evidence that she still does. Her house was completely clean, there was no trace of him or anything that would connect her to him. She obviously has money though. Ten thousand dollars gets wired into her bank account every month but it’s always from a different bank around the world and after the one transaction, the account is closed.

Shah: That alone is rather suspicious. Jeff, any luck on getting the account details?

Jeff: We don’t exactly have that many operatives worldwide and by the time they get to the bank in question, the account’s been closed and the account holder is long gone. Description is generally the same: tall, dark, tailored suit but the facial features, eye colour, nationality and accent are always different. Probably the same person in disguise with fake IDs. Hard to tell if it’s Azmi himself or an accomplice. It’s a dead end.

Shah: We have to focus our efforts on Josephine then. She’s still in love with him. We can use that to our advantage.

Alan: How can that be to OUR advantage? She’s more likely to protect him than help us.

Shah: I’ll just have to become Azmi.

Was this inspired by Yukie thinking you were Shah?
