My Imaginary Life 11
Shah is silent for a while, stunned by how Jo looks. He finally notices how pretty she without any makeup, how her still slightly damp hair falls gently to her shoulders in soft waves, how loose locks of hair from her fringe fall softly across her face, how her eyes sparkle in the dancing light from the candles and how her smile lights up the room brighter than all the candles. Shah blinks a couple of times and clears his throat. He tries to sound indifferent.
Shah: Um.. yeah. Mesmerizing.
Jo erupts into a fit of giggles and then suddenly stops, her hands covering her stomach.
Shah: What’s wrong?
Jo: No. It’s nothing.
Jo’s stomach grumbles again, this time audible to Shah in the quietness of the room. Jo gives an embarrassed smile to Shah.
Jo: I haven’t eaten anything since lunch.
Shah: Well, we can definitely fix that. Come with me.
Shah takes Jo’s hand and leads her through his dimly lit house to his kitchen. She takes a seat at the counter separating the kitchen from the living room and consciously carresses her left hand.
Shah: Ok, let’s see. I still haven’t really stocked my kitchen with much.
Jo: It’s alright. Do you have any cup noodles?
Shah: Sorry nope. I have eggs and bread. I can make us some french toast, if that’s alright with you. Sounds more like breakfast than lunch or dinner though.
Jo: No, that sounds fantastic.
Shah: Alright then, give me a couple of minutes.
With amazing efficiency, Shah goes to work and prepares their dinner for the night. Jo watches hungrily from behind the counter. Ten minutes later, Shah places three slices of french toast on each of two dinner plates and tops them with some powdered sugar. He places both plates on the counter in front of a very excited Jo.
Jo: Smells delicious!
Shah: Eat them while they’re nice and hot.
Jo takes a bite and chews a couple of times. Then she closes her eyes and gives out a moan of pleasure. Shah stares at her for a second.
Shah: Wow. You sure are easy to please.
Jo: SHAH! This is unbelievable! It’s the best french toast I’ve ever tasted!
Shah: You just think that because you’re hungry.
Jo: Maybe so. But it’s definitely in the top 10 of all french toast I’ve ever had.
Shah laughs and begins to eat as well. He watches as Jo practically inhales three pieces of french toast. He pours both of them some water.

Hmm, after writing so much, I just realised it’s just a lot of filler material. Well, can’t have exciting encounters all the time.

To be honest, neither have I. But most recipes for french toast online seem to top theirs with powdered sugar. Sounded good.
