Anime marathon goodness.

Okay, so maybe I should rename the category to the ‘Almost Daily Clie Pic’. Anyway, today I’m here to talk about my weekend, which was pretty good actually. Even though I was sitting on my ass in front of the computer the whole weekend. The reason it felt really good was because for a good part of Saturday, I was in a whole different world. I was looking through my collection of anime and decided to rewatch one of my favourites, RahXephon.

And you know you’re watching a really good anime when you forget about everything crappy thing in your life and you are immersed in the story. It’s like you’re right there with them in the anime, watching their story unfold. I think Nicole said it best in one of her posts:

But yes, reading affects me. I can identify with the protagonist and forget that I’m penniless, bored or lonely. It takes up time, it teaches you things. You laugh, you cry, you are… transformed. And for just one afternoon, you are no longer you.

And that’s exactly how watching anime affects me. And there were moments when I burst out laughing and also moments when I couldn’t hold back the tears from rolling down my cheek. And that’s why I love watching animes so much. They manage to evoke feelings in me which I thought dead or didn’t exist because I never ever felt them in my real life.

Feelings of heart-wrenching sadness, ecstatic joy and everything in between. And the impact is harder when you’re watching it episode after episode in a marathon. You don’t have a week between each episode to get over it or think about it. You just feel it. And when it’s 26 episodes long at about 20minutes each, that’s about 10 hours of a nonstop emotional roller coaster.

Of course not all animes are like this. Some are just happy ones like Azumanga Daioh. Some are mysterious and dark like Lain: Serial Experiment. While some others are just crap. But I implore anyone who has got even the slightest interest in anime to watch RahXephon. You won’t regret it. And after you do watch it, please look me up and I’ll be more than happy to share with you my thoughts about it.

Next marathon rewatching: Love Hina.
